So the internet at my house hasnt been wroking all this past week and weekend so sorry I havent been able to update you. I promise Ill put up pictures as soon as I can use my computer at home.
This past weekend was beautiful. On Sunday two of my friends (chloe and sarah) and I all went and climbed the famous Mt St Victoire which, if you didnt know, Paul Cezanne painted over 180 times. We didnt climb all the way up to the top (being that we somehow didnt follow a path) but it was still an amazing experience. I took a snail shell that I found at the bottom to keep as a souvenir and took plenty of pictures.
Yesterday, while walking around the market, we saw a man who was being followed by a xhole crowd of people and cameras. Earlier on the walk some random guy handed me an advertisement but I just put it in my pocket and paid no mind to it. I remembered that and pulled it out. The guy walking the streets was the man on the paper...he was the President of the Region. As he got closer to us Chloe took out her camera to sneak a photo...he saw us and came over and talked to us (in french). The other two were so shocked they didnt say anything but I did haha. He shook all of our hands, asked us where we were from, told us he loves American Students, people took pictures and then he gave us all kisses on the cheeks and went on his way. It was so cool!!!
This next week coming up we have our winter break. For that Im going to Barcelona and then Vienna for a Dave Matthews Band concert with my housemate and some friends...it should be a blast!! Ill keep this updated after the trip

bonjour!!
Hello everyone! Its taken me a bit to get on here and post something and im sorry about that. Ive been here since the 22nd of January. So far its pretty good! Im in Aix-en-Provence which is a very old but beautiful place to be. I live in an apartment with a host mom (very nice) and a house mate (also very nice). We have about a 30 minute walk to the university which isnt too bad but for now being that its still a but cold out we take the bus most of the time. When it gets a little warmer (which wont be in too long) im sure ill walk more....its a great walk!
Everything is so cute here. There are a ton of cafe's and little shops. Its a bit expensive at some places (being that Aix is the 2nd most expensive town to Paris) but the school told us a few places to go that are cheaper.
Its easy to make friends! With this university everyone is American which means more English but, all my classes are in french, I speak french with my host mom, with the town people and I just signed up to have a french speaking buddy. That is where we sit down and simply chat. Its at least 30 mins in French and 30 mins in English; that way we can both practice our language skills.
My classes are a bit hard but I think they will get easier as I get more comfortable here. I do however feel that everyone else is about 5x more fluent than me and just better in french. My one class is a media class and the teacher speaks very fast and with a heavy accent so naturally....I didnt catch a word of what he said! haha Ill get there.
I havent taken a ton of pictures yet but my plan is to do that tomorrow and this weekend. This weekend we are all going to nice and cannes so that will be a good time to get some pictures in...Ill put some up soon :-)
